Gatorland Florida! Don’t fall in!
We had a major dilemma. It was 10:00 and we wanted to go to a park for the day.
Our choices were:
- Dinosaur World
There were debates. Strong arguments on every side. Because of the limited time, cost and travel distances, Gatorland won out.
I only have one regret.
We didn’t do the Zip Line tour.
Gatorland First Impressions
When we first entered, I was not sure we made the right choice. It seemed a little bush league as far as a zoo goes when you first walk in. You have large bins of alligators.
As you move in through the part however, it really warms up. The swamp walk area is breathtaking.
Gatorland Shows were great!
We saw three shows at Gatorland:
- Close Encounters
- Gator Wrestling
- Gator Jumping
Close Encounters was an informational show about different reptiles in Florida. It was a really well done show and very funny. The two hosts were amazing.
Gator wrestling was a show about Florida Crackers and how to wrestle gators. Why would you want to? It goes back to the cattle driving days and protecting your cattle from these hungry animals.
Gator jumping was the last show and was pretty good as well…
…but my favorite was by far the Close Encounters.
Sitting on Alligators
Pay a little extra at the gate and you can get a train ride and the opportunity to sit on an alligator. How priceless is that?!
At the end of the day, Gatorland was totally awesome. The only thing we didn’t do there was the zip line. Some of us were in sandals and you must wear closed shoes to go on the zip lines. That attraction is a two-hour tour going on zip lines throughout and over the park. It looked amazing! Next time for sure!
